A little Grand National betting

I don’t bet often. When I do it’s normally with a Google Spreadsheet, which I put fake money into fake bets. But today is Grand National day, and everyone likes a flutter on Grand National day right?

Probably the naughtiest part of the bet was the fact that I put all of the £10 I had on Southampton winning against Reading, that bet worked out leaving me around £20 to bet on the horses.

Sam Cole, a work colleague, had pointed be towards http://www.olbg.com, but those tips just matched BetFair.

I did a bet on the top 5 favourites, with slightly less money the closer the horses were to being favourite

Betting to place in top 4

Horse Odds Bet Profit
Seabass 3.6 2 7.20
On His Own 4.1 2 8.20
Chicago Grey 4.6 3 13.80
Cappa Bleu 4.5 4 18
Teaforthree 4.3 5 21.50

Top four were

1. Auroras Encore (Ryan Mania) 66-1
2. Cappa Bleu (Paul Moloney) 12-1
3. Teaforthree (Nick Scholfield) 10-1
4. Oscar Time (Sam Waley-Cohen) 66-1

So I won £39.50 + £9 of my bet back.

Horse Odds Bet Profit
Seabass 3.6 2 7.20
On His Own 4.1 2 8.20
Chicago Grey 4.6 3 13.80
Cappa Bleu 4.5 4 18
Teaforthree 4.3 5 21.50

I also bet On His Own to win, but that didn’t work out.

In all I turned £10 into about £40.
