Breville Breadmaker
Horray we have a breadmaker! It has taken us three goes to make a good loaf of bread in our Breville Auto Bake (VBM003) but we are finally there.
Now to write something that will help everyone who like us types something like ‘My breville breadmaker keeps failing’ into Google. Ignore the instructions…
We’ve found that the flour websites are normally a lot more accurate than the breadmaker instructions. We’re using the instructions here now – http://www.carrsbreadmaker.info/recipes/stong_white_flour.html and after two failed loafs with 180-odd ml of water we’ve found that some idiot made the manual. After changing it to 300ml the loaf has come out great.
If you think the bread is good, try the rolls! They are delicious.
We have also become the proud owners of a Breville VBM003. Armed with a bag of best Stoneground Wholemeal Flour, set about making our first loaf meticulously adhering to the instructions in the manual- result: a cross between a housebrick and a back of sand.
second and third attempts even worse. What clown wrote these recipes? 4th attempt baking right now, looks promising this time ,followed your advice and doubled the water content. Thank you, saved me from chucking the machine out of the window in frustration!
THANK YOU for the information. As soon as I used the receipe on Carr’s…a perfect loaf!
My father-in-law is just about to try our recipie. After three failed attempts our sanity was about to fail. FIngers crossed it works.
I have just received the VBM003 as a present, and the water content given, does not seem to be enough for the quantity of flour – can anyone help me with the correct quantities? For all three size loaves? I would be very grateful
Also using the VBMOO3 but wondered when you upped the water to 300ml what weight of flour and loaf you were making ? Presumably you were using Program 1.
nothing wrong with the breville bread making machine, its just the” weights and measures” are way out in the so-called recipe book,a company as well known as breville needs its arse kicking for this I would love the correct interpretation of what the recipe s SHOULD be any other company would be falling over themselves to sort out such a monumental cock-up but not breville(thats why we are all on this site)
My Breville VPM003 breadmaker gives about ten loud beeps some way through the kneading phase, it stops kneading beeps and shortly after the kneading starts again. there is no mention of these beeps in the manual, anyone know what they signify?
Thanks mactoshb
