Been having a go with the BT Communicator which lets me use my computer and headphones to make telephone calls with the bill going to the home phone line. It may seem like a waste of time but I find that if I’m on hold for 20 minutes I would far prefer to be sat back with some comfy headphones on rather than with a phone stuck between by ear and shoulder.

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005Holidays
Wednesday, June 29th, 2005Just going to try and round up the hols.
We managed to miss all the bad weather (woohoo) and had some lovely hot days. We rounded the week off with a meal out with Susan and Tim* who managed to get an evening off together.
* Susan = Amy’s sister | Tim = Susan’s fiancee
It was certainly nice to go on holiday with friends living there, Tim picked us up from barnstaple and dropped us off again making bus trips non-existent.
Keith (from uni) lives in barnstaple and came up for 2 days which was very nice. The last time I saw him was when we went to Lynton last year.
In the end Amy’s parents didn’t come down but they have made up for it (see protected news above).
The rest of the news can be seen in pictures by clicking ‘Photographs 2005′ followed by ‘Jun 28th – Lynton’.
Hot hot hot
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005It’s nice and sunny here, but I’ve still managed to find my way onto the Internet.
Today Keith came to see us and we have had our third game of Minigolf of the week. We have manged to go to two Tesco’s since being here and we’re on the 3rd box of beers. Amazinly we haven’t hit the end of the Southern Comfort bottle yet.
Weather has been lovely. It was drizzly for the first 2 days but then it has been glorious. To be honest the after the drizzle it got too hot, now there is a nice sea breeze which cools us down.
Had a look at the work email and there are 36 emails of which 33 of them have been sent out on mailing lists so have no relavence whatsoever and 3 just forgot I was on holiday.
Batteries also ran out today on the camera with 70 shots left. I think I have 160 odd when empty so there should be enough to fill up a page on this site.
Star Trek
Tuesday, June 7th, 2005So Star Trek Voyager series 7 (final) has come out on DVD. Amy isn’t even watching CSI because she is so busy going through the discs.
Me? I’ve just been on the wine.
Yet another news feature
Sunday, June 5th, 2005Because Karen asked for it…
You can now tick “Remember me for 6 weeks” on the login page and you won’t be asked for your username and password for 3,628,800 seconds (because that’s how these things work).
If you are using a public computer (or one that my boss can see) then I would advise that you don’t tick the box.
Glasses
Friday, June 3rd, 2005I’ve been getting headaches from my poor eyes so I decided to get new glasses rather than wait for Karen to arrange buying them through work. It’s a shame because it was a really good offer.
Anyway I’d moan for the next 2 paragraphs about how rip off glasses are if it wasn’t for the fact that a few opticians read this page. So I’ll moan for one paragraph, this one. ?230 it was in the end, ?90 for the frames and ?140 for thin style transitions lens glasses but at least they don’t look like goldfish bowls. I get 50% off a second pair so I might get a non-transitions one, I’m yet to decide.
Maxivista
Friday, June 3rd, 2005(Getting through the news today)
I have been testing a program called Maxivista 2. I’ve been using version 1 for the past year and a bit but they brought out version 2 recently and I’ve been beta testing it for them. For my work I got a free licence but I’ve also just found my face over the frontpage of the website because of the comments I gave at the end.
Eyes
Friday, June 3rd, 2005After finding out that I can’t see anything in my right eye in focus any more I went to the opticians. I have gone from a -5 in my right eye to a -6.5. Blind me.
